40th Anniversary Fundraising Dinner

Our anniversary fundraising dinner will celebrate NAMI Massachusetts’ achievements over the past 40 years and those who have contributed to our success. The evening will feature an address by Congressman Jamie Raskin, who represents Maryland’s 8th Congressional District and serves on the House Judiciary, Oversight, Administration, and Rules Committees.

Congressman Raskin has deeply personal ties to Massachusetts. For one, he and his wife, Sarah Bloom Raskin, are both graduates of Harvard Law School, where Congressman Raskin served as Editor of the Harvard Law Review. For another, Congressman Raskin’s son Tommy attended Harvard Law School in 2019 until his tragic death by suicide on December 31, 2020. In 2022, Congressman Raskin released his book, Unthinkable: Trauma, Truth, and the Trials of American Democracy, which discusses the unimaginable personal and professional trauma he experienced in the beginning of 2021 due to the death of his beloved son and, only a few days later, the January 6th riot.

We thank Congressman Raskin for speaking so openly about such traumatic events and for continuing to support his son Tommy, even in death, by using his platform and voice to spread awareness. Similarly, over the years, we have provided continuous support to people living with a mental health condition and their families and helped raise awareness about the struggles they face. Join us in celebrating our work of 40 years toward changing how people living with a mental health condition and their families are treated and supported in Massachusetts.
