ABOUT THE WEBINAR
This webinar will examine some of the ethical questions raised by the co-locating of traditional clinical service providers with providers of peer support. The roles played by members of these two different components of the behavioral—and increasingly physical- health workforce are different, and the National Guidelines of Peer Support (iNAPS, 2013) are based on ethical principles which are also somewhat different than those which have guided clinical practice for years. The ethics of peer support and clinical practice will be described, and a distinction will be made between peer support in its pure form vs. the hybridized models delivered in agency settings. Observations will be shared regarding the special case of peer-operated programs, and scenarios will be presented with opportunities for webinar participants to weigh in with their views on what might constitute ethical behavior in each of them.
