The debate on the house budget is starting on Monday, April 22 after the budget was released on April 10th.
As you know from our Legislative Priorities and our awesome Advocacy Day on April 8th, NAMI Massachusetts is supporting better funding for the DMH Rental Subsidy Program and other initiatives to reduce or prevent homelessness for individuals and families with mental health conditions.
The House Committee on Ways and Means released their recommendations for the FY2020 Budget about 10 days ago. Amazingly, Representatives have filed 1,396 Amendments to the budget proposal! Debate starts TODAY Monday, April 22nd, to develop a final House Budget proposal. That’s a lot of choices for our Representatives. We need YOU to contact your State Representative and ask then to co-sponsor and advocate for the passing key amendments. When you send this email, your representative assumes there at least 300 other constituents that would share your views! Your action is powerful!!
We are making it super-easy to do this by clicking the link below, we have a prepared email that will automatically fill in your Representative. You can use our text, add to it, or write your own. But please act now to ask your Representative to co-sponsor these very important amendments.
We have broken the amendments down into two groups – the first three are specific to our NAMI Mass priorities. The second email relates to amendments on homelessness, particularly for families. We thought you’d want to know about those as well.
