A mental health crisis deserves a mental health response — and people in crisis and their families deserve better than the current system. That’s why NAMI is hosting REIMAGINE: A Week of Action to Reimagine Our National Response to People in Crisis, taking place Nov. 15–19. Throughout the week, NAMI is bringing together leading organizations to elevate crisis response and to coordinate federal and state advocacy efforts to establish and fully fund our country’s crisis response systems before 988, a new three-digit number for mental health, substance use and suicidal crises, goes live nationwide by July 2022.
REIMAGINE will focus on moving collective mental health community efforts forward by addressing the shortcomings of current mental health crisis response efforts and focusing on solutions that we know to be effective – and outline what we can do to get these solutions in place.
Register today to hear from speakers who have first-hand experience with our current response to mental health and suicidal crises, participate in conversations exploring key components of crisis response – equity and social justice, public safety and first responders, and the perspective of youth and young adults – and advocate on behalf of your communities throughout the week.
