May 19th, 2023
BOSTON, MA – NAMI Massachusetts, the state branch of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is proud to host the 19th Annual NAMIWalks Massachusetts this weekend, rain or shine. The Walk will take place on May 20th, 2023, at Artesani Park in Boston, and participants can register online at namimass.org/walk to show their support for individuals and families living with mental health conditions in Massachusetts. The event is part of NAMI’s national walk series, which aims to raise awareness and funds to help break the stigma surrounding mental health.
NAMIWalks Massachusetts is a free community event that welcomes people of all ages and abilities. Participants can walk as individuals or form teams with family, friends, and coworkers to help support the cause. The event will feature Boston 25 news anchors Kevin Lemanowicz and Vanessa Welch, DMH Commissioner Brooke Doyle, and community poets. Participants can also savor delectable treats from food trucks like Daddy’s Fried Dough or enjoy exciting games and activities in the brand-new Fun Zone.
“Our annual NAMIWalks Massachusetts event is an opportunity for our community to come together in celebration of hope and recovery,” said Dr. Myisha R. Rodrigues, Executive Director of NAMI Massachusetts. “Here at NAMI Mass, we believe that recovery and healing from mental health challenges is possible, and that each person defines what this means. So, we aim to support individuals living with a mental health condition and their families on this journey. While the idea of recovery can include grief and loss, the journey toward healing can also abound with hope and joy. Therefore, we are honored to celebrate with you this Saturday, May 20th, at our annual NAMIWalks Massachusetts event, where the funds raised provide free education, support, and advocacy for individuals living with mental health conditions, their caregivers, and their families.”
It’s completely free to register, and everyone is welcome to participate- including your furry friends! All fundraising goes directly to NAMI Mass’ free programming for people living with mental health conditions, their loved ones, and caregivers. Plus, participants can win awesome prizes for hitting milestones, like exclusive NAMIWalks Hydro Flasks, T-shirts, Skull Candy Earbuds, and more!
